Joes Stone Crab was named an American Classic by the James Beard Foundation in 1998. It is often visited by politicians, actors, and athletes. Famous guests have included Al Capone, Frank Sinatra and Howard Cosell. The restaurant is reputedly referenced in Ian Flemings novel Goldfinger as Bills at the Beach in which James Bond ate the best meal he had ever eaten in his life.
